Just had to replace the Antenna Ground Plate on my '67 Coupe this week. I ended doing the job last night. I ordered it last Friday night online from Zip Corvette Parts and had it in my hands Tuesday of this week. Pretty quick shipping considering Monday was a Holiday. Anyway to make a long story short I had the Coupe out for a ride last week and when I put it away after wiping it down I went to put my car cover over it. Well I always unscrew the Antenna mast out before doing so since I will not put a hole in my car cover. Well I found that the base of the antenna loosened up and actually came apart from underneath. As I got my hands into it I found Bubba must of messed with it at one time or another. What a crappy job Bubba did when he last worked on the antenna of this car. For one thing the grounding plate is suppose to have 2 notched up areas where the base of the antenna sits into it and rocks in the slots. That was totally gone as someone twisted it off or ground it away. He ended up using what looked to be a made up washer made out of some chrome piece of crap and had it boogered up twisted against the antenna base and plate to hold it together. I ended up doing the job on my back as my lift was occupied and I ain't getting any younger.
At one point I thought having both hands and arms up there and into the left quarter that I was actually going to be stuck up there. I really had a hard time pulling myself out being as I said laying on a creeper on my back. Everything is fixed like it should be now. Below is a picture of the Ground Mounting Plate for the '67 for those that don't know or can't picture what I am talking about.
