Foil Insulation....65 coupe

I can feel heat coming from the firewall but not from any of the vents. So, I am thinking there is little insulation or old cardboard which is not doing the job of insulating the engine heat. I have side pipes so it is not coming from the floor. My thought is to remove that cardboard like stuff from the firewall and lay some kind of foil insulation. My concern is maneuvering the foil up under the pedals, Vintage Air blower/evaporator box, etc. There isn't much room to work in. Anyone have some suggestions on material and installation? I do not want to tear out the center console or other parts if I don't have to.

Thanks

Ken,
Check out one of the Street Rod shops out there. When I sent my '34 out to have the interior done that put in some nice silver insulation in the interior and it looked thin enough to maybe work in a C-2. Don't know the name of the manufacturer though. I know what you mean about heat coming from the firewall. I can feel it in my '67 Coupe.
