Need help on an electrical problem....can anyone help?

Ok, I have Vintage A/C and a Holley Idle solenoid that works fine with 12 Volts. Problem is I can't get the 12 volts from either the compressor or the blower switch that turns the A/C system on. Both only are putting out 10 volts at idle. I haven't checked any other electrical parts. Any ideas? I am a total idiot when it comes to electrical. But I can check voltage.

Are you getting 12 volts before the switch?

Voltage is like a river you can send so much down it but if something is diverting some you wont get everything you put into it.

Need to check up stream till you find the 12 volts.

14 Volts coming from the alternator at 650rpm, 15.5 at 1500rpm. At the back of the alternator!

Ok, the fix I did in case it will help anyone in the future: I purchased a 30 amp relay, a 30 amp in-line fuse and wired the A/C blower switch to the relay. Then ran the 30 amp in-line fuse from the positive battery cable to the relay for a constant 12 volts. This sends 12 volts to the idle solenoid and keeps it open whenever the a/c is on. Works great and parts cost was about $15 for the relay and in-line fuse.  nod.gif
( yes, you need to run a ground wire to the relay also).
