I'll be interested to see some statistics a year from now .I know that in Canada Ford is the #1 seller .I think GM might edge up a little although they plan to mfg and import from China. My gut feeling there is a minor swing toward buying American .
It's not just cars .It might sound trifle but I buy only socks and underwear made in the USA .I preach to others check your labels .Support our jobs .
The next new vehicle I look at when it is time will be a Ford vehicle. Until Ford takes bailout money they are the number one American Auto Manufacturer I will deal with first. GM and Chrysler is a long 2nd and 3rd away. As I have mentioned before I don't think I can buy now from Government Motors. I have so many vehicles it will be awhile before I get something else as far as things look anyway right now.

I haven't owned a another vehicle other than a Ford or Chevy for at least 25 years. Had a couple of Toyota trucks as a young man but when I realized my mistake buying foreign, I made sure I never swayed away from US build vehicles. Also both my children drive nothing but Ford and Chevy!

Japanese cars: In the 70's a kid I knew bought a new Datsun pickup........it lasted 32,000.....valves were gone. Then he bought a 1970 Datsun 240 Z, when it got hot it vapor locked...... Junk cars......still are....... I drove my 1985 Mustang Gt to 232,000 with only a water pump and brakes as repairs. I've never had a Corvette fail......
The Japanese are one fo the major reasons that auto insurnace is so high.......5 mph crash in a Honda Accord and its $5000.00 in damage. But yet consumer reports says, The Japanese cars are the best.......
Last summer a dumb kid in a Japanese car was in a hurry on a mountain road and hit a Dodge Ram on the Rams side of the road......they had to cut the kid out of the cat box and the guy simply back the ram up......no injuries.......the dummy in the Honda serious injuries.
