Just checkin! Before my Dad passed away he wanted a Prius. Asked him why and he said gas mileage of course. He was driving a Cadillac at the time. Asked him how many miles a year does he drive, he said around 5,000. I said, ok, the caddy is paid for, you go 5,000 miles a year in comfort and no car payment. What the heck would you want to buy a Prius when you will loose money VS driving the car that is paid for and you drive less than 500 miles a month. He kept the caddy. I guess if you drive more than 30,000 a year it would be smart. But I don't see where the big savings are if you don't need a new car and don't drive thousands of miles. Personally I like the safty of my 2004 Silverado. Gas mileage sucks but I like the truck.
I think there will be gas powered cars in the next 6 months that will get 40-50 mpg and cost under $15,000 .The Ford Fiesta fits the bill but I like stuff made in the USA
Your father made the right decision based on your advice which made a lot of practical sence
My dad loved caddy's, I always like them too. I think he would have been unhappy if he had sold the caddy for a upscale import roller skate! I want to buy a CTS-V when I retire next year. But I will get one that is a few years old and low miles. Let someone else take the hit on depreciation.
