This bothers me

We're industrial contractor and do a lot of steel erection. We ran out of work last Dec and laid everyone off .We had as many as 31 employees five years ago .

I lost some key people that I'll never get back so I'm trying to hire a few decent people .We pay above average wages for the state of Maine.

What bothers me is the desperation of the work force .One individual that I hired had worked for me 15 yrs ago and he was good at the time. He's now homeless  ,has no vehicle and hadn't eaten in two days .Mentally he was very unstable which made him a danger to others .I gave him two weeks of work but I had to let him go .My oldest son was able to take some time and get him assistance .

There are people out there who are truly desperate .I'm far from liberal as a matter of fact I'm right of the "Tea Party "but there are people who are truly in need.

Although things are tough I feel truly blessed for what I have .

In this state theres homeless women with children..
In India theres generations who have never lived in a home...all they know is the street.
Brazil samething, but the business owners in Brazil didn't like the poor living in thier door ways so they hired assassins to go out a night and murder the poor.

Its called "over population", the planet cannot support the billion's of people. Its impossible.
Theres not enough land on which to grow the crops to feed them.
Then theres the water, theres not enough water, theres not enough clean water.

Being homeless creates mental instabiility, they have no family, no friends, no hope, no future, no one to care for them when they're sick or injured, they can't sleep for fear of animals, both two legged and four legged...

I've been one payday away from being homeless my whole life...it could happen tomorrow.
For almost a year I lived in my Dodge van, it was comfortable, no bills, no rent, no job, but its illegal to be homeless.

I got woken up more than a few times by a cop, "Hey you can't park here", "Move on".
When you do finally get a job, thats not the end of being homeless, you can't rent a place without a reference, or a bank account, or a credit card, or a phone number, or a credit check, or the and last months rent.

At work I bathed in the shop bathroom....got some funny looks.
I'm a skilled body and paint worker with thousands in tools and 30 years experience but I've been homeless three times in my life.

You iether overcome what life takes from you, or you die.
I see folks with big homes that have burnt down and they lost all of thier stuff and thier big home and they're crying like babies. I don't get it.

Theres nothing in my place thats over 5 years old....nothing.
Life is temporary, don't collect anything that you don't need.........I live under the federal poverty standard, way under.

The poor, the hungry, the homeless, that would be me, but I'm survivor, I always find away to get by.

"If you never give up, you never lose".
Blessed, you're not blessed, you worked hard and you've been lucky.

American's are use to hardship, its what makes us American's.........

Thank you.

Wow, very good. How/where did you learn to write spanish?
It is one thing to speak the language but quite another to write it.

I grew up in Mexico Norte, aka Los Angeles Ca.
You're correct its a lot harder to write in any language, as far as wrtting in Espanol
the computer can write in just about any language.

www.altavista.com babel fish.......the words are mine, but the Espanol is the computers. Some things sound so better in Espanol o French.

I decided to learn to speak in Espanol about 12 years ago, because so many Spanish speakers were so looked down on by the English speaking American's.

The English speakers would say, "Well they should learn English", so I thought how hard would that be to learn a different language as an adult.

Now I see just how hard that is, but I took this path to learn one thing and inturn learned another. Knowning another's language, is getting to know and appreciate
another's culture.
It is a form of respect, a validation of the hardships and honor, and courage of all who struggle for a better life.

We all do that.
