Had some overspray on my 1978 Fiat 124 Spider. I have always liked the clay to remove overspray but I wasn't sure it would work this time as the paint was soooooo rough. Not sure where the overspray came from but it was really bad. Took out my spray bottle of water and claybar and went to work. Took 2 hours to do the entire top surface but man it worked like a charm. Now tomorrow a little Meguiar's scratch-x followed by Meguiar's gold wax and it will look new again. The Corvette stays in the garage so it's never going to get any contamination. I use the Meguiar's Quick detail on it once every month or two just to keep it clean. But that clay works awesome!
Ken I never tried the clay bar on any of my cars but I heard a lot of people talking about it over the years. Glad it worked well for you. I just never knew much about the product as to when and where you would use such a product. I guess I am just old school using just wax and compound for most things I needed them for.

If you get any contaminants that land on the paint and don't want to polish out, clay bar will remove it most of the time. If you rub your hand across the paint and feel anything but smooth, try it. Use lots of water or you can buy a special wetter to use with the clay bar. No pressure and it works great. I was amazed how easy and well it worked for me. I had tried scratch remover, polish, but none would remove the overspray contaminants except the clay bar.
Would someone use a Clay Bar to remove light scratches on say a car with basecoat clear coat?
