Well, we are staying home since we went to my sister-in-laws for thanksgiving. It will be just my wife and 2 grown kids having a little Christmas cheer and opening presents. I'll cook as always. How about the rest of the forum members?

Christmas with my dogs, just like last year.
Last year I got to see my grandkid for a week at Christmas, but they moved to the coast and I won't see him this year.

Christmas is an interesting holiday, its German in its originality.
The Catholic's adopted it into thier religion as the time of the birth of Jesus.
But Jesus according to the Bible was born in the spring time. Jesus wasn't born in a manager, he was probably born in a cave.

People like to think that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus, but its not.
Its still a interesting holiday though.

Merry Christmas to you all.......

We will be home. My son, daughter-in-law and grandson will come Christmas morning. My older daughter and her two dogs will come and stay with us for a couple of days. She lives in Boston. My younger daughter and her boyfriend can't make it from Florida this year. We will miss them. Her boyfriend called me a couple of days ago and asked me for her hand. He is asking, on Christmas day, to marry him. He is a very nice young man (Coast Guard) and we will be very happy to have him in our family.

My wife is Dutch but has continued my mother's Cuban custom of Noche Buena (The Good Night) Christmas Eve. She will cook rice, black beans, pork, plantains, yuca and Cuban enpanadas.

On Christmas day, she will cook a ham, turkey, sweet potaoes, mashed potatoes, salad, etc.

They will have little white and red wine and beer with southern confort manhattan/sweet vermouth for me.

I can't wait.

We'll be in Virginia/Maryland/DC for Christmas. My husband's entire family is up there, as well as both of his daughters, and his two grandsons (the 2nd one was born on 12/4).

My own family is so estranged I doubt I'll hear from them this year. No biggie. hmm

Merry Christmas, y'all.

Speedie, if you want to get along with your family, you have to go along with your family. Theres no other way.

Friends are one of the few choices in life, were stuck with family......

A friends dad a retired police officer, said, "The worst fights I ever broke up were the family trying to kill each other on the front lawn at Christmas".

Family should give one a sence of great comfort and peace......if only they would put thier pettiness behind.....then if the whole world would do that we wouldn't have die to see heaven.

Anothers family is no substitute for one's own.......

This is the week ,all the gifts have been purchased (on-line) .The eve of the 23rd after work my wife and I head for the Maine Mall area .we buy stocking stuffers for each other .Then we go out for supper ,hopefully Cracker Barrel .Then we shop just a little bit more just stocking stuffers. We have a limit of $50 and it's like a scavenger hunt and we both get very creative.

The 24th leaves only food for Christmas eve which is uselly Lobster and steamed clams .This said the menu may change because my youngest son and girl friend may come over and her food likes are very narrow.Thats OK because Nancy (wife)and I love having family around .

Lizzie (our dog)is getting excited she senses something is going down .We know that she'd like a tractor tire to chew on or a Grizzlie bear to play with but both we're did't seem practical.

Two things we encourage to do this time of the year is to remember the Salvation Army as they for the most part do a great job .The other is the greatest gift that can be given ,become an organ donor .

And may Santa bring back my spell check --where in hell did that go ??
