Trying To Help The Economy

I know I have said it on this forum awhile back that I would not buy a another car from the new Government Motors since OB got involved but my wife has been bugging me for years now for that so called Camaro I promised her she says if she was to marry me back in the early 80's. Instead back in the day once we got on our feet and my new business started making a little money I bought her a new 1988 Monte Carlo LS instead. Well she never let me live that down so she will be surprised this Christmas Eve with a new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. This should keep her quiet for awhile or in the least she should not complain anymore about not getting that Camaro I promised her back in the day.

They were talking about the new Camaro Verts at the dealer when I went to pick up the car. I have the 2011 Camaro hidden in my pole barn covered up from my wife at the moment. She has no idea of what I did. Still trying to figure out how to give the car to her and when. Either Christmas Eve or on Christmas day.

Anyway I was disappointed that I couldn't even get a 2011 Camaro Brochure from the dealer as they were out of them. I was told people come in and take them just to sell them on Ebay. They promised me they would get me one. I will surely remind them when my plates come in. One other thing. Get this. I use to use a GM Master Card for years. Instead of getting money back for paying your card on time they would pay you in GM bucks that you would turn into a rebate. Problem was if you didn't use those bucks by a certain time they would take them away from you a little at a time. Well I got disgusted with that and stopped using the GM card in 2004. At that time I had maybe $650 in rebate dollars.  During that same time other cards were paying you back 5% in real cash if you were current on your card. I always used my card like cash so I went a different route knowing I would get something back and not lose any of it like I was with the GM card. Afterall if you weren't buying a new GM car right away it was a waste of time and rebate dollars. To make a long story short I checked to see if my still current GM card had any GM bucks left on it. It was down to $71.40. Well I cashed it in on the Camaro. I figured it was at least something a tank or two of gas but I will never use my GM Mastercard again being how it works against you I feel. Rather take the cash back instead from other cards although most cards are only paying back 1% nowadays.

I really like the new Camaro. I sat in one at a car show for new cars. I am used to driving my truck so a big difference. The only thing that caught my attention was the perspective of the never ending hood. The slope makes it difficult to judge where the front end is. I would think you could get familiar with that real quick. The styling and interior was way above any Camaro I have seen. I want a Cadillac CTS-V but if I can't have one, the Camaro would be my next pick! BUT, I would buy it for me, not the wife! headbang.gif

My wife got to take the car out on Christmas day for a good ride with me riding shotgun. Luckily she did because we are loaded with snow and the Camaro is not a car to drive in snow as most probably already know. Before I even made a move to purchase the car I decided to keep my wifes 2000 Intrepid for her everyday car getting back and forth to the train station as she takes the train everyday to work and for trips to the Grocery store or mall. She doesn't want to take the Camaro out in bad weather as of yet anyway. I will have to see how it plays out with the insurance on it. If I find that she is only using the car once in awhile it may pay for me to put the car on my Collector Car Insurance Policy as they will take it as they did my '99 C5. Cost you a little more the your other collector cars that are at least 25 years old but it works out to be about half of what you would pay through a regular insurer for the whole year.

Got a good one for you as I am not a Happy Camper today. This morning I started to open Saturdays mail and saw I got a promotion from GM stating that my meisly rebate of $71.40 from my GM Credit card was bumped up to $2000 if I was to purchase a New 2011 GM Car during the month of January until the 31st of the month. Well we all know I purchased my wife a brand new 2011 Camaro. Actually picked it up on December 20th,2010. Took it home, gave it to my wife on Christmas Eve the 24th, had her take it out for a ride and put it in my Pole Barn where it has sat ever since because of the bad weather we have been having. Have less then a hundred miles on the car. Still have the temporary license plates and have to go to the dealer to pick up the permanent ones yet and my rebate check of $71.40. Well I thought I would call my GM Credit Card to see if they would honor my new purchase to get the Rebate difference. Absolutely not! Well folks I let them know this was my last GM vehicle purchase and that I will be cutting my GM Card in half and canceling my account. Not only have they taken plenty of rebate money away from me over the years because I was not making a purchase fast enough for them that I feel they stuck it to me again.

Your Thoughts?

TOTALLY AGREE.......if they don't want to keep a customer, that's the way to treat them. Just tell loyal customers to go pound sand. Seriously, I would drive over and give them the biggest BIRD my finger could produce. Also, maybe post it on the net. I get 100% free checking, any king of bank transaction and reward points from B of A only because I have been with them since 1967 and every time they try to charge me for something I tell them I will leave. They always see the light. They have been using my money for a long time and would be stupid to piss me off.
