Tires

My original C6 tires have 34,000 miles on 'em .So we all know it's time to start lookin' .I've been on tire Rack as a guild so see whats available -Not much .I want Michelin's run flat all season but only continental makes such a tire .I've had very good luck with the Michelin's on my C5 .Oh the good news is a set of tires will only set me back  about $1400 no

Lots of people choose to carry a patch kit and small compressor rather than buying run flats .I considered this but it's just not for me .Don't get me wrong ,I live with dirty hands and I can/could certainly fix a tire .My issue is I take long road trips and I also spend a lot of road time at night .

Many C5 and C6 owners look to get rid of their Run-Flats for regular tires but I don't know if that really is the way to go. So far so good with the Run-Flats on my C5. Then again when I purchased this car back in early August of 2010 the previous owner just put a new set of BF Goodrich Run-Flats on the car and a brand new Optima battery in it. I figured just these two new additions to the car with only 36k miles on the odometer really affected the $14.25K price I paid for the car being I could of easily paid more money for this car for just the low mileage still having to replace the tires and battery I would have to say. Taking that into account I can see why many feel I stole this car in the deal I made. At this point I feel the same. Yes $1400 is a lot of money to pay for a set of 4 Run-Flats but they do their job. You do not need a spare with the use of these tires. Chevrolet knew exactly what they were doing with the C5 and C6 in using Run-Flats on the car.

Hope no one mines but I am moving this thread from (CAR TALK) to were it belongs in the C6 section above.

Good news I ordered the tires and I waited long enough for the price to go up another 200 bucks .I hate driving on cheap tires .smile

Are you saying they cost you $1600 now? What about mounting and balancing?
