Collector Car Insurance

Just wondering if anyone on this forum is insured with Grundy Worldwide Collector Car insurance. Reason for asking is that I most recently found out that Grundy was bought out. I received my new Collector Car Insurance bill from Grundy in the last week of November 2011 for my new 2012 policy that runs from January to January. I wanted to make some adjustments as to agreed value but for the life of me I can't get in touch with anyone at Grundy to help me. I called the last week of November and was told an underwriter would get back to me. Since then I called and left messages twice this month and no one gets back to me. This is very disturbing to me being my Collector Car Insurance is due in a little over a week on January 2nd and I am getting no where. Seriously thinking of getting quotes from other Collector Car Insurance company's now. Your Thoughts?

Fred,

Grundy is owned by Philadelphia Insurance Companies. I had my 65 and now my 2005 insured with them. I think Grundy is like a broker. They still have zero deductible, and you can state amount or value. I checked around and for the zero deductible and type of coverage, they had the best deal. Good luck!

Ken,

I have been with Grundy since 2003. Previously I was with American Collectors since 1984. I made the move to Grundy because American Collectors couldn't insure my Street Rod the same as my other collector cars. Grundy treated them all the same. Never had a problem with Grundy before although I have had no claims with either Company Grundy or American Collectors. Grundy was always underwritten by other insurance Company's. When I started with Grundy they were underwritten by Chubb and then later on they went with Philadelphia Insurance Company who from what I understand took the Company over under the name Grundy Worldwide. When calling the original 800 number I had in my file I ended up reaching Grundy itself who is still an insurer under the Grundy name but they are not associated with Grundy Worldwide anymore. The rep on the phone at Grundy told me about the buyout and all the complaints she has been hearing about from customers like myself lately. She said that Grundy itself operates still insuring cars. They now insure everyday cars and are starting to insure Collector Cars again but could not sell me Collector Car Insurance being there was a clause in the contract with Grundy Worldwide preventing them from selling to former Grundy customers. Once again Grundy itself is being underwritten by another insurance company.

I then called Grundy Worldwide at their new phone number and after waiting on the phone which seemed forever reached someone once again I believe for the 5th time telling her about my dilema. Also told her at this point being I was running out of time being my statement was due on the 2nd of January that I would now start calling other Collector Car Insurance Company's for a quote. She told me she would do her best to have someone get back to me as soon as possible. Still waiting for that call that brings me back to November 29th the first time I called about my policy.

So far called American Collectors again and still they can not give me the same deal on my Street Rod and when all was said and done gave me less coverage and wanted over $200 a year more on my Policy insuring all my Collector Cars.

At the moment I am dealing with Adam Boca from NCM the Corvette Museum who also sell Collector Car Insurance. Everything we have talked about and what I was quoted I happen to like. Waiting until Tuesday the 27th for my final quote and it looks to be right now that I will be dumping Grundy come Jan 2nd and going with NCM.

Fred,

I had a claim on the 65 which had a small crack in the fender. They sent an adjuster out who inspected the damage, completed an estimate for the shop of my choice, and emailed a copy to me. About a week later, I received a check in the mail. I was more than happy with the service and the adjuster's estimate was about 2 times higher than I could have gotten the repairs done for. Not saying they are great, but I had a good experience with them and I could not find any better rates anywhere. Also zero deductible and insured at my stated value.

I have been with Hagerty  for about 8 years. Never Had a claim so do not know how they are with that. The price and agreed value was right

Took on a new Collector Car Policy with NCM the (National Corvette Museum). The agent Adam Boca there was very friendly and took not only my 3 Corvettes but also my other collector cars. Policy will be starting on Jan.2nd the day my Grundy Policy runs out. For the record I never got a call back from a Grundy Insurance underwriter after requesting to speak to one 5 times since November 29th. Never had this problem before with Grundy and the reason for me leaving Grundy now. For anyone who is still with Grundy I wish you all the luck. Pryor to November of this year 2011 I would of swore by them.  Through my research the last month or so I have found that many are leaving Grundy for the exact same reason I have done so. Now I know I am not the only one out there. I heard the same from the former Grundy Ins Company before Grundy became Grundy Worldwide that many are complaining to them about Grundy Worldwide. Trust me just the hold time on the phone in order to speak to someone at Grundy Worldwide will get on your nerves anymore. I experienced anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour of wait time only to reach someone who could not answer any of my questions.

Fred,

Must have been my luck as I have called them on maybe 3 occasions and never had to wait on hold. I'll check around in 1 year when renewal comes up. I only have the Corvette with them, all my other cars and homeowners is with Allstate.
