Pertronix I or II for my new 383 stroker?

I will be receiving my 383 stroker motor next week and I am keeping the tach drive distributor. I was thinking about upgrading from factory points to the Pertronix kit. Suggestions? Thanks!

I've had a Pertronix unit on my 57 since '99, and with one exception it's worked flawlessly for probably in excess of 30k miles.  The one exception was when the screw holding the unit in the distributor loosened and the car stopped running.  Using the longer condenser screw in place of the points screw solved the problem.  Of course, 5+laps around Atlanta Motor Speedway in excess of 120 mph may have had some bearing...

I bought the Pertronix II as I heard the I was subject to issues if the ignition was left in the ON position. Don't need any problems with ignition! disbelief

I am running the Pertronix II on my 400 cid small block with the stock 73 tack drive . Love it no problems. Also useing the flame thrower II coil epoxy filled. The unit did take out an Accell super coil when I left the ignition on for a long time. Overnight.
