air cleaner

Trying to find a 10" or 12" diameter DROP base air cleaner for my Holley Street Avenger. The 14" I have works but if I can find a smaller diameter I can go with a taller filter VS the 2" I have now. A 2 1/2" filter would give me more room above the carburetor. I have a feeling the lid may be restricting some airflow. I also think it would look a little better with a smaller air cleaner.

Ken you might want to check into one of those Aluminum Street Rod Air Cleaner Assemblies.

The problem with the oval aluminum is they don't have a drop base. They are too tall even with a 2" filter. I have a balled milled billet one I had on my 32 Ford so I tried it and it's about 1/2" too tall. Now I am thinking about the Edelbrock triangle foam air cleaner. I might be able to cut it's base down to fit lower on the carburetor. I need to go find one at look at it.

Here is what I ended up ordering as a custom made spun aluminum. It will look like this and will be able to fit a 3" filter and still close my hood with that RPM air gap intake on my 383 stroker.
