Ken, I have both sizes in my tool box. The large fork is for balljoints and the small fork is for tie-rod ends.

Be careful when breaking them lose as you can easily rip the rubber boot that holds the grease inside of them. I have seen mechanics not use any tuning fork and just smack the side to break them loose. Myself I rather use one of the forks.
Add on: Don't forget to put a floorjack under your bottom A-Frame to catch it once you break the lower ball joint. Keen the jack about a 1/4" below the A-Frame so when breaking the ball joint apart the A-Frame will have some room to expand downward.
