pickle fork size?

I'm going to replace my front springs and was wondering what size pickle fork I need to separate the ball joint? 65 coupe.

Ken,
I have both sizes in my tool box. The large fork is for balljoints and the small fork is for tie-rod ends.

Yep, didn't know that until I went to Harbor Freight and they only had one size. Then next to it was a smaller one for tie rods.

Be careful when breaking them lose as you can easily rip the rubber boot that holds the grease inside of them. I have seen mechanics not use any tuning fork and just smack the side to break them loose. Myself I rather use one of the forks.

Add on: Don't forget to put a floorjack under your bottom A-Frame to catch it once you break the lower ball joint. Keen the jack about a 1/4" below the A-Frame so when breaking the ball joint apart the A-Frame will have some room to expand downward.
