Oversize crank pulley and lower radiator hose

I ordered new pulleys per suggestions on the corvetteforum.com to increase water pump flow. Now have a 7.3" crank pulley VS the 6.7" that was on the motor. And a 6.4" VS 7.0" water pump pulley. Did the swap to increase water pump output at lower RPM per forum suggestions. The problem is with the larger crank pulley, as the belt to the A/C compressor now looks like it will rub the lower radiator hose. I do not have the motor running yet but was wondering what I can do other than making a metal guard to wrap around the radiator hose. But then I take a chance of wearing out the belt? Or do I just put the original crank pulley back on? Anyone using these pulleys with A/C run into this situation?

PROBLEM SOLVED...........the belt was a wide belt that did not sit all the way down in the pulleys. Found a narrow belt that sits down flush and that gives me 1/4" clearance which should be fine.

Ken,
I know years ago Dayco belts would ride higher in the pully being the way that are made. They claimed that they were made to ride up so air flow would keep the belt cooler so that it would last longer. Gates belts would sit in the groove a little further down in the pully. Just curious as to what brands you used before and after to fix your problem?

The belt I had was a Dayco 17mm, I went with a NAPA premium 15mm. I originally had purchased the gates but they didn't stock them in 1/2" sizes. The NAPA premium were a little more expensive than the Gates.

NAPA charges a premium for their parts and many are the same that everyone else is selling under a different name. NAPA doesn't manufacture any of their own parts. They just rebox and rename them. Either Gates, Goodyear, Dayco or possibly now-a-days one of the foreign manufacturers are making NAPA fan belts. When I had my Carquest Auto Part Store during the late 70's early 80's a buddy of mine had a NAPA Parts Store and still does to this day although he tried to sell out a number of times over the years.

They are the Gates. They look identical to the Gates, have the same size lettering and yellow color stamping. Only difference is it says NAPA Premium VS Gates.
