Finally Taking My C-2 Out For A Ride In 2010

Finally uncovered the C-2 sitting since last Fall. . The plans today are to dust it off and take a ride sometime this afternoon. Looking forward to it. We had a good rain last night and it is a bit cooler today so not having A/C shouldn't be a problem later on I am hoping. Too many things in the way once again this year. I should of had the car out in the month of May at the latest. Did take my Street Rod out a couple of weeks ago to a Monday Night Cruise after finally replacing the battery in it. Not bad since I last replaced the Battery in 2003. Can't really complain being I got 7 years out of it.

Geeeeez, I feel bad cause I take my 65 out any time of year unless it's raining. I bet it's a big deal after waiting out a hard winter with snow and stuff. But make you appreciate the car more I bet!

Yep it felt real good to take my'67 out for a ride Thursday. To tell you the truth not driving it for so long makes one appreciate it even more. Problem with me is I have too many toys to drive and not enough time to drive them all. Hopefully I will get my C-3 out of the Pole Barn this year also as it never made it out in 2009.  My restored '70 Monte Carlo that I never sold has been sitting now for at least 6 years. I will need to drain the gas tank on that one but also hope to run it sometime before next fall. I haven't been too agressive in selling it like I should and now with the economy the way it is it will be very hard to do so. With so many cars to deal with not counting my everyday vehicles and work Vans it is too much for me to handle at times.

I really don't drive my 65 much at all. Maybe when I retire I will but I am too busy or I just don't make the time to drive it. When I do, I love it so not sure what my problem is. Maybe just lazy? confuse

Ken I am presuming the '65 is all you have to deal with being I remember you saying you sold your Street Rod some time ago. Can you picture having them both today? If I only had the '67 to deal with I know for a fact I would drive it more, well as much as I can being the Winters here mean storing the car for 6 months or so. My problem but a good problem was that back in '91 I purchased the property right behind my home with the idea of putting up a Pole Barn after seeing them around and knowing 2 friends in the area that had them. Of course one of those friends had his up for his business. I thought what the heck a Pole Barn looked like the perfect thing for me to store my 2 Collector Cars in at the time being my '73 Coupe and '70 Monte Carlo. Well to make a long story short I decided to go as big as I could on the property I have so I chose to have a 42'x60' Morton Pole Barn built on my back property. The barn also served my small business as I kept some inventory stored there.

Anyway you know how the saying goes when taking a small fish out of a small fish tank and putting it into a large fish tank. Well I guess I realized that I had plenty of space. My idea at the time was to accumulate as many old cars that I can and eventually use the barn for just my cars later on in time as I got towards retirement. Well I have pretty much done what I wanted to do since '91. Less inventory and more cars. I am at the point that I am pretty much out of space now. No more cars for me as of right now. I don't think I ever mentioned that I also have 2 other Monte Carlo's stored in my barn along with the C-2,C-3, Street Rod and '70 Monte Carlo. I have a '87 SS that I still plan on Restoring and a '88 LS Monte Carlo. The '88 I purchased for my wife back in '88 when I heard GM was discontinuing the Rear Wheel Drive Monte Carlo. I had the idea of having the first Monte Carlo to be built and the last one. This car is in great shape with only 64k on the odometer. Couldn't see selling it for the little money I would get for it later on.

Just to mention I also use the Pole Barn to do all my repairs. I built my Street Rod in this same barn. I eventually put in a brand new car lift in '92. I also have plenty of tools and other equippment or toys such as a Tire Machine, 80 Gallon Compressor,Drill Press, Welders 3 types and a old 1957 Towmotor fork lift.  I sure love having that fork lift I have to say. You would be surprised at all the things it came in handy for over the years. I also store my Polaris Sport Utility ATV in the barn. Another good thing to have working around your property.  Great for moving my trailers around also.

Fred,

I think I am kind of burned out on cars. After building and showing the 32 Ford I thought a change was needed so I sold it to buy the 65 vette. I have done way too much making improvements to the drive-train and suspension to make it more comfortable and reliable. Currently working on Fiero seats to cover in leather. The progress posts are on the other forum for seat progress. Guess I am getting too old and don't feel like playing much with it. So I think I just need to step away for a little while and maybe the urge will come back. Maybe when I retire I will have more energy to play with it?

Ken, I know that burned out feeling when it comes to my collector cars. Trust me when you walk away for awhile you appreciate them more. In my case I have many to choose from. If you also kept your Street Rod that may of lessoned the burned out feeling. We are talking about toys here. As a kid if you got tired of playing with one toy you went to get another toy to play with am I right? The more toys you have the better. Hey, Look at Jay Leno? Do you think he is burned out over his collector cars? I doubt it. My problem is that I still work at running my own business a one man operation. Because of it I find it even hard to take a vacation let alone enjoy my collector cars.

I use to tell people I had a Corvette collection .When people would ask how many I'd say One.
Actually I had two vetts at once and the work never ended.

Nice to see an active car thread going
