Is a 75 degree 40% humidity sunny day. No cell phones. No computer. Top down and good music. My stress rate would drop back to where it's suppose to be. The past 2 weeks at work have been crazy. Not quite 7 years to go and I'm retired sitting on the back deck smoking a spliff.
Sounds like a great plan, Sarge!! I have another 3 years and I'm retiring from the medical field. I'll have 31 years, and that's plenty for me. Don't know what I'm gonna do, but it won't involve taking care of sick people.
In the meantime, I rely on the nice folks at Bacardi to alleviate my stress.
Hmmm...a spliff?? Is that what I think it is?

Fast times at Ridgemont High.............
31 years in the same field? = 0. I rearley liked working but I did like working on the big rigs, didn't care much for management though, but the trucks were cool.
Every time the boss got in my face I'd tell them to FOD, paying someone to work doesn't mean that you own them......
Work is the easy part the hoops and hurdles that you have to jump over to get to the work is the hard part......I always worked alone in the back shop, it suited me...... -- Edited by Speedie on Friday 20th of August 2010 08:44:54 PM

I'd love to tell my boss to FOAD. For the most part, I stay in my office and stay off of the radar.
I despise drama.
Drama, it does suck I think it makes some people fell impotant. Like they really are needed in thier place of employment.
Did theevil bitch from the darkside die?
I use to get really pissed if the boss got in my face......I was working in a rv shop and I was re-siding a rv I did my way and the owner of the shop got in my face about not doing his way.
He went off, I put down my sander and said F--K YOU! Packed up my roll a way and set off to laod it in my car.........opps the ex gave me a ride to work that day......no car, no job, sitting in the parking lot with all of my tools.
A guy I worked with got off early and gave me a ride home.....luck there.
Another guy that I worked with came by to visit me and said, "The boss couldn't believe that you quit, he waited 2 weeks for you to come back".
Somebody yells at me they get right back, somebody hits me they get it right back.
I made that boss $1,500 a day and he got in my face. He didn't own me........nobody does.
I've always been that way, I grew in Lincoln Hieghts Ca, 1 of 5 white kids in the 7th grade When the other kids pushed I pushed back, they got the message........
I don't like drama either but when it comes up I cut that shizt real fast.
But the best thing is to not take it personal........

Yes it is!
Drug test, random, gobment job...........an invasion of privacy you beat, but if need a job, they own you......

That's the problem now Bud. i have a government job.
Nope the evil one still walks among us. The good news is: HER boss is leaving, and she is in a precarious situation, to say the least.
I like your approach to drama. Mind if I use it?
Sure you can't it personal, its not personal, some folks are just poo slingers, they don't care who they hit with thier crap..... When rich folks get sick and are dying it pisses them off, its "Why me, I ate the best food, had the best medical care, and took good care of myself.......the poor should die first, they have nothing to lose".
In this life the only true intelligence is being happy with yourself. If you happen to just by chance run into someone who isn't very nice or rude or just an a-hole, you should feel not anger, but pity for them, thier not happy with themselves, so they can never be happy with anyone else.
Bricks can build both prisons or bridges.......me I use them for weapons, could attention getters.
I heard a guy say it another way, "Don't let jerks rent a space in your head".... When somebody says something that gets to you, its just a blank check you fill in the amount....how much is this jerks remarks worth to me?

Jones, I wish I'd kept track of how many times in the past week that I've referred to this post. You'd be stunned! I have no doubt it's kept me from getting fired!!!
Its funny but when I read this thread it reminds me of how things went with me years ago after graduating High School in 1969. See I had no intentions of going to college. Hated school as it bored me. Use to watch the clock that seemed to move so slowly during the school day. Wasn't dumb but really had no motive to apply myself. Worked after school since my junior year. Viet Nam war was going on and figured I would be drafted and have to go there anyway. Well I never got drafted only because of the lottery that was in place. Was lucky I guess receiving a number somewhere in the 350's if I remember correctly. Heck there were only 360 days in the year but a high number in the lottery meant you would be one of the last to be drafted. The year before when I didn't qualify I would of had a number like 125 if I remember right its been so long ago. Was getting phone calls then still in high school from recruiters telling me to join now that I would be drafted anyway. Unbelievable!
Well right after graduating high school on a Thursday in June of '69 took a job the following Monday in the inventory control department of a local company. Sat at a desk everyday in air conditioning (nice) but was bored to death filing numbers on little Kardex Cards all day long. Sore eyes at the end of the day. Had to quit it was getting to me especially the low pay (about $2.02 an hour back then) so 2 years later quit and took off for the summer. Took another job working in a warehouse as a assembler for the Singer Sewing machine company. Assembled cabinets and then moved into the cabinet repair department and eventually taking on a drivers job delivering all over N.J.. Not a bad job at the time but didn't pay very much (about $4.10 an hour). Company ended up closing and I was out of work again by late '73-74. Jobs were really tuff to get back then and I didn't have much experience and only a High School diploma. Had some odd jobs now and then working with my cousin a Mason. Tuff work I have to tell you. Wasn't for me. Ending up taking a job working in a plastic's extruder company locally. This job was the pits I have to tell you. I mean the pits. Crooked Union and having to work bagging 50lb bags of Poly Vinyl Cloride. No mask and powder all around in my hair and clothes. Looked like the Pillsbury Dough Boy at the end of the day. Job lasted a good year and then the company closed it's doors. Luckily to this day no problem yet from working with the Poly Vinyl Cloride where there were warnings all over each bag that it caused cancer. Well this brought me well into the year 1977. At this point in time after the last meaniless job I said to myself that I would never work for anyone ever again period and haven't since. Luckily a girl that I was going out with at the time her father talked some sense into me I have to say. He basically told me that with out a college education working for someone would not make me any money. He looked at me and knew my love for cars being I owned by 3rd Corvette at that time my 1972 Coupe and said Fred you like cars and are into cars. Your best bet is to get into your own business of doing what you like. Well I took his advice and in '78 opened up a Carquest Auto Parts Store. My girlfriends dad died in '79 of a Brain Tumor but I will never forget his advice to me. I haven't worked for anyone since leaving that last job in 1977. Been in the Automotive Parts business ever since. Can't say really anything bad about my current job for the last 33 years. Sure it had its ups and downs but if I had to do it all over again I don't think I would of done things much differently. I would still work for myself over working for someone else.

My girlfriends dad died in '79 of a Brain Tumor but I will never forget his advice to me.
I hope he knew how important and life changing his advice was to you. Did you ever have an opportunity to tell him?
To tell you the truth Speedie my old girl friend at the time moved about 70 miles away from me with her parents just before I had opened my parts store. They had 2 homes one by me and one at the N.J. Shore. It got to the point that they couldn't handle both homes and being it was getting close to retirement age they decided to live at the shore house and sold the local home near by. The distance didn't help out our relationship and we eventually went separate ways. I tried to make the trip down there on weekends and that was a really tuff thing to do in the beginning being I worked at my parts store 7 days a week in the first year. Monday through Sunday. A year of that was really tiring but when you are in business for yourself you must sacrifice in the beginning. Hank my girl friends father wasn't doing well with the brain tumor. He knew I had started my own business but he never got a chance to see it for himself. I spent plenty of time with him months before my store opened as he went downhill because of the tumor but I never really had a chance to thank him like I would do today to be honest with you. Wish he was still around so I could. He died early at 57 years old. Couldn't help but think about him as I got older through the years especially when I was around that age. I have already passed it as I am 59 now and closer to 60. Hopefully some how Hank knows how I feel as I have told many people over the years how I came about going into my own business something that my own parents weren't so keen on in the beginning.
