oil filters

I picked up a bunch of oil filters at the local Chev dealer and NAPA .Holy crap they've thinned out the metal canister thickness .Some of the NAPA filters are half an inch shorter .

Name brand filters like Purolator and others have started consolidating many numbers and have made many of the filters shorter then they were before. The metal thickness is the same. Can't figure out why they did this being I have been selling Purolator for 34 years.  Don't care for some of the consolidation either and neither do some of my customers that I may have to fill in with another brand to sell them.

Yes, I also noticed for a long time now it's difficult to find the longer filters. I always ask at the counter so they can check their stock in the back. I would also think the longer filters do a better job?

I had to order one for my Fiat 124 Spider as they don't stock them anywhere. Darn these Italian cars anyway! Been working on the car everyday since I retired. Keeps me bust so far and out of trouble. My wife likes the idea I spend most of the day in my garage. Bet if I left for the day, she would put a bed and fridge out there. disbelief

Your C6 takes a Purolator oil filter with the last 4 digits of 2222 wereas the C5 takes a Purolator oil filter with the last 4 digits of 4006. From what I saw neither of these filters have changed in size. They are both small filters. I believe the 2222 is a bit larger then the 4006 but at the moment I am not out in my warehouse to compare both.
