Overheating Problem At Idle Corrected Finally

Finally fixed a overheating problem at idle or in bumper to bumper traffic so to say that I was having on and off for quite awhile. After much research I found that my Vacuum Cannister to the distributor was the problem all along. Replaced it recently a few weeks ago and even in this very hot weather I have been good to go. Actually a electric pull fan installed on my car before purchasing it in 2002 was not needed at all and I am considering disconnecting it now. Also found out that manifold vacuum is the way to go on these old cars. My car was using ported vacuum from the carburator to the distributor cannister when I purchased it. Big difference.

Have to say its a joy to drive my '67 not worrying about over heating anymore. Glad I didn't go out and buy a new radiator for no reason. Was just about to order a new DeWitts Radiator going for around $870 for their exact factory replacement. Had plenty of Corvette people telling me to replace it. Who would of thought a Vacuum Cannister could be the problem but it was.

This goes to show that doing research before jumping to conclusions is the Smart way to go.

Hey Mr.Muffler. How you been where you been? Its been a Ghost town over here at this forum. Many have left I guess for better pastures or who knows why. I guess they are giving up and want me to close this forum down at some point. There must be something better out there then trying to build this forum up.  I am such a tuff Moderator here. I like to use Gestapo Tactics here. lol. Oh wait that is another forum altogether.biggrin
