Good question. I lost my first Corvette a '67 Vert. in flood waters back in 1971. It went under in our family garage when a dam broke above our town. 19 years old at the time. Didn't know a whole lot about cars but cleaned that car up and ripped it apart which meant pulling that Dash out and all gauges. Remember using CRC on every bulb socket and all electrical to clean it also using cu-tips. Got the engine started 2 days later before I touched anything else. Remember jacking it up and putting a drain pan under the Oil Pan to drain the oil out. Remember water coming out first and moving the pan to the side while laying on my back until I saw a darker color coming then I moved the pan back into position. Yep it was oil at that point. Took a long while there was much water in it. Drained it completely then pulled the plugs to give it a quick spin dry with short turns of the switch. Water shot out of all the Spark Plug holes. Put it all back together using the same plugs and a new filter and oil and it fired right up. The car was very nice when I was done with it. It was totalled but I bought it back from the insurance company and kept the car until someone kept bugging me to sell it to him. At that point I graduated to a 11,000 low mileage '69 Corvette 427-435hp Coupe. Thought it was the way to go at the time but always missed my first '67. Ended up replacing it back in 2002. I figured it was now or never back then. Still have it today. Not parting with this one.
